People will make this much more complicated than it has to be. Optimize your website for the keywords you are trying to attract through search engine results.

What this really means is that you want the people who are looking for you to be able to find you when they type in certain words or phrases (often referred to as keywords) into search boxes in various search engines.

To accomplish this you use those words and phrases in the content on your website so that Google, MSN, Internet surfers, and Yahoo! can find you easily.

Build Links
Create links to your website through article marketing, blogging, creating Squidoo lenses, and commenting on other blogs. It’s a great way to trick the search engines into believing that you are already popular and they should rank your website higher as a result.

Advertise
There are many methods for advertising online. You do not have to limit your ad efforts to one method, but you might want to start small and build as your traffic and income build. Pay per click (PPC), text link, banner, and button ads are hot commodities right now and can be purchased at fairly reasonable prices.

Don’t let worries over how to increase traffic on a website prevent you from building a great website. Getting your site out there is half the battle.
